The Dog Days of Summer are Here!
The Dog Days refer to the star Sirius (AKA The Dog Star), prominent in the night sky during Summer, and is seriously the hottest time of the year. Many will shop early to beat the afternoon heat. Spoiler alert: some vendors may lower prices mid-day so they don’t have to pack everything back up! Be sure to take frequent breaks and drink plenty of water to avoid overheating. There are plenty of shade trees and three pavilions to cool off in.
How to Beat the Heat:
FREE Hand Fans at all concession stands! FREE Hydration Packets available at all concession stands and info booths. I scream for ice cream! Concession 3 now offers milk shakes! Refreshing Watermelon Cups at Concessions 1, 2, 4 and 6.
We have some great music lined up this month welcoming the Jesse Stratton on the Main Pavilion stage, Jimmy Saurage returns to the Shady Grove and Monte Good on the Hilltop Stage. Libations and good food are available at all three music stages!
Yes, dogs are welcome at the market as long as they are on a leash and don't mind crowds of people. Dog owners please do your ‘Doo Diligence’ and clean up after your pet when nature calls. If you need a dog waste bag, there are dispensers located near all entry gates.
Park your car in a Lions' parking lot! The new sidewalk along 2325 is a great improvement to the safety of all pedestrians, making the trek from remote parking a breeze. No parking along the side of the road that Market Day Field is on... but there's plenty of parking all around! Please try to park in a Lions' parking lot to ensure that your $10 donation actually goes straight back to our community through grants and scholarships.
Be sure to check out the new Lion Boot in parking lot 1 at the crosswalk. This 6 foot tall cowboy boot was hand-painted by Lion Amy Cartee-Cox, one of the friendly bartenders at Concession 5.
