Wimberley Lions + Market Days = $ to the Community

Edited by Amy Cartee Cox
Welcome to Wimberley Market Days, the Texas Hill Country’s largest outdoor market, with 490 booths on 20 oak shaded acres. Over 200 volunteers from the Wimberley Lions Club and local civic organizations provide their time and resources to make each Market Day possible. All net income from booth rentals, concession stands, parking lots and hauling goes to Wimberley Lions Club grants that support local programs, non-profits and activities. In 2018, Wimberley Lions hit the $4,000,000 mark in contributions to the community since the club was chartered in 1969! The Lions support a variety of programs including community service projects (Crisis Bread Basket, Barnabas Connection, Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Wimberley Library, Fire Department and EMS), worthy animal rescue projects (WAG, PAWS Shelter and ARF), the arts (Wimberley Community Chorus, Wimberley Valley Art League, Wimberley Players, Starlight Symphony Orchestra and EmilyAnn Theatre), youth programs (Girl and Boy Scouts, Special Olympics and the Hays County Youth Shelter), in-school youth projects (LEO Clubs at our high schools, Freedom Canines, academic improvement projects), 2 and 4 year scholarships (8 per year) and youth exchange… to name a few. The Wimberley Lions will continue to invest in and support Market Days as a mainstay for the organization and for the Wimberley community. Think of all these grants the next time you buy a BBQ plate and a drink. Think of these organizations each time you park your car in a Lions Parking Lot. The money you spend here is going back into the community for worthy causes through the Wimberley Lions Club and we thank you!.
