Wimberley Lions + Market Days = $ to the Community

Edited by Amy Cartee Cox

Welcome to Wimberley Market Days, the Texas Hill Country’s largest outdoor market, with 490 booths on 20 oak shaded acres. Over 200 volunteers from the Wimberley Lions Club and local civic organizations provide their time and resources to make each Market Day possible.

All net income from booth rentals, concession stands, parking lots and hauling goes to Wimberley Lions Club grants that support local programs, non-profits and activities. In 2018, Wimberley Lions hit the $4,000,000 mark in contributions to the community since the club was chartered in 1969!

The Lions support a variety of programs including community service projects (Crisis Bread Basket, Barnabas Connection, Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Wimberley Library, Fire Department and EMS), worthy animal rescue projects (WAG, PAWS Shelter and ARF), the arts (Wimberley Community Chorus, Wimberley Valley Art League, Wimberley Players, Starlight Symphony Orchestra and EmilyAnn Theatre), youth programs (Girl and Boy Scouts, Special Olympics and the Hays County Youth Shelter), in-school youth projects (LEO Clubs at our high schools, Freedom Canines, academic improvement projects), 2 and 4 year scholarships (8 per year) and youth exchange… to name a few.

The Wimberley Lions will continue to invest in and support Market Days as a mainstay for the organization and for the Wimberley community. Think of all these grants the next time you buy a BBQ plate and a drink. Think of these organizations each time you park your car in a Lions Parking Lot. The money you spend here is going back into the community for worthy causes through the Wimberley Lions Club and we thank you!.

November Market Day Approved by Mayor
We are excited to announce that in compliance with Governor Abbott's order for outdoor gatherings in excess of 100 people, the Wimberley Lions Club received approval from the Mayor of the City of Wimberley to hold Market Day on November 7, 2020. This approval will continue to be re-assessed on a monthly basis during the pandemic. Please know that we understand that some of our vendors will not attend due to their personal situations.

Here are some general updates for November:

Three deputies will be roaming the field.
Concessions will be limited based on staffing.
Concessions 1 and 4 will be serving breakfast tacos, hot dogs, sausage wraps, chips, cold drinks and water.
We will open Concession 2 if we have volunteers. Whether or not we are able to open this concession, we have removed the tape from the seating area and will have regular cleaning throughout the day.
Beer and wine will be sold in Concessions 5, 8 and 10.

If you or an employee has any of the symptoms outlined by the CDC please stay home.

Following is a list of safety guidelines. Please read through them and do your part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

Face masks and six-feet distancing will both be mandatory in the field. We will have signs throughout the field and reminders throughout the day over the PA system.

Similar to the big stores, please only provide samples if they can be individually sealed. We suggest 1-oz plastic cups with lids.

Have hand sanitizer available to customers and employees.

Wash hands often.

Consider contactless or minimum contact payment options.

Monitor access to your booth in order to maintain 6 feet social distancing.

Place painters tape or markers every six feet where lines are typically formed to encourage social distancing (checkout or display counters).

Keep areas and surfaces frequented by customers clean and regularly disinfected.
